E-Mail: Mike@wape.com
About Me: Born up north (Philadelphia) but raised in the south (Jacksonville). I'd like to to end up north again one day.
Position: Producer for "The Big Ape Morning Mess" and resident Idiot
Birthday: 6/19/81
College: University of North Florida. Go Ospreys!
Favorite Movie: Forrest Gump
Favorite Food: Alice Springs Chicken from Outback w/ the blue-cheese vinaigrette on the side salad.
Favorite Drink: Dark Beers, Blue Moon, and Zephyrhills water.
Off Air Life: I'm either reading a book (Paulo Coelho is my favorite author) or taking classes at FCCJ (You can never learn TOO much). Right now I'm doing a workshop at the Comedy Zone (shoutout to Fred Pozin!). It's a lot of fun. I'm always looking ahead. Just recently (about a year ago) got into the theater scene and I LOVE it. I won't be playing any parts anytime soon...LOL... but I'm still learning. I also love going downtown and to the beach. If you ever go to The Brix, Mark's, Lynch's, The Atlantic, or Campeche Bay during the weekend, chances are you'll find me there.
Career: Dated a girl who worked for a station down in Orlando almost 8 years ago. That was the "bug that bit me". Since then, I've been EVERYWHERE in town. Interned at that "other" top-40 station back in 2003. From there, I worked promotions for a cluster of stations. Did that and interned at WTLV-12 (TV NEWS) before graduating with a degree in communications in 2004. Got my first on-air break as a traffic reporter thanks to Linda Baker midway through 2004 as well. After college, I started as a production assistant and eventually became an associate producer for Channel 4, THE LOCAL STATION. Did that for a couple of years until my friend Derrick told me about a contest the new Morning Show at the BIG APE was holding for a "stupid star." After he finally convinced me, I auditioned and MIRACULOUSLY, Mark picked me over more than 100 people. I haven't let him down since (well only a couple of times that I know of...LOL!).
People Say I Look Like: An overweight Pudgy White Boy.
Favorite Quote: "It was my fear of failure that first kept me from attempting the master work. Now, I'm beginning what I could have started ten years ago. But I'm happy at least that I didn't wait twenty years." - Paulo Coehlo - I live by this daily!
Side Note: If you ever see me out and about, PLEASE don't hesitate to say hello. I promise I don't have an ego and I don't think I'm the bomb because I'm a "radio DJ." I'm quite the opposite. Just ask Mark Kaye. LOL. I grew up in Jacksonville (Go Fletcher Senators!) and will NEVER forget my roots.
