McDonald’s PlayPlaces used to be crammed with colorful structures, slides, ball pits . . . and an unimaginable amount of germs. But now, those places are increasingly hard to find.
There’s an image going viral online, which shows a PlayPlace at a new McDonald’s in Tennessee. And it has just two chairs in front of two tablets stuck to the wall . . . probably loaded with games or learning activities.
There was also a weird column thing for kids to run in place.
Some kids might be perfectly fine with that . . . but nostalgic parents are STRUGGLING to cope. Comments on the post include:
“This is so depressing.”
“That’s pathetic.”
“This ruined my day.”
“That is the saddest example of modern society I’ve ever seen.”
“This is one of the saddest pictures I have ever seen on social media.”
“Nothing says childhood fun like staring at a screen.” (There’s no way this person has kids.)
McDonald’s hasn’t directly addressed the issue, but the reasons are kinda obvious: They can’t be made 100% safe and clean . . . and in today’s lawsuit-happy world, the risks outweigh the benefits.
It used to be on PARENTS to watch and protect their kids, and now there’s basically an expectation that overworked staff members are responsible.
