True Crime Tuesday: Always Lock Your Doors

On this week’s True Crime Tuesday, we heard a story that sent chills down our spines—one of those moments that makes you check your locks twice before going to bed. A woman called in to share her terrifying near-encounter with a notorious criminal, the Baymeadows Rapist. And trust us, you’re going to want to hear this one all the way through.

Our caller recalled coming home one day, completely unaware that something was off. The first sign? Mud tracked through her living room. At the time, she blamed her dog—maybe he had gotten into something outside. But as the night went on, things got even stranger.

After showering, she reached for her clothes—only to discover that every single piece of her underwear was missing. Not just the ones in her drawers, but also those in her hamper. Someone had gone through her things, taken them all, and left without a trace.

At that moment, she realized something was deeply wrong. She called the police, who later confirmed what no one ever wants to hear—she had been targeted by a serial offender.

Six months after her horrifying discovery, authorities finally caught the “Baymeadows Rapist”, a criminal who had been breaking into homes and attacking women in the area. When they brought him in, police asked her if she wanted to come identify her stolen belongings. And sure enough, there they were—her underwear, kept as trophies by the very man who had stalked her.

What makes this story even more terrifying? Had she been home at the time of the break-in, she likely wouldn’t have survived to tell the story. The Baymeadows Rapist had already attacked five or six women before he was caught, and she had been next on the list.

Looking back, our caller admitted she never thought something like this could happen to her. The idea of someone watching her movements, knowing when she was home and when she wasn’t, was more than disturbing—it was life-changing. She moved immediately after the incident, unable to shake the gut-wrenching reality of how close she had come to becoming a victim.

Stories like this are a wake-up call. They remind us to stay alert, lock our doors, be aware of our surroundings, and trust our instincts.
