Adrian Gainer Jr.’s mother says son’s alleged killer mocked Jacksonville teen’s murder in rap videos

Charges filed after suspect bragged on social media

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Adrian Gainer Jr., 16, was shot and killed on West 45th Street in February 2019.

On March 11 of this year, his alleged killer, Hakeem Robinson, was arrested and charged with his murder.

Gainer’s mother, Elizabeth Gainer, and grandmother, Blanche Jordan, spoke to Action News Jax Thursday about Robinson’s arrest.

“I feel like my life stopped. When my baby died, my life stopped. I don’t feel alive anymore,” said Elizabeth.

Jordan says she’s relieved her grandson’s alleged killer is behind bars.

“Oh, it feels wonderful. It feels wonderful,” said Jordan.

Action News Jax told you Tuesday Robinson had been arrested for Gainer’s murder.

Robinson was already in jail, charged in the 2020 murder of Charles McCormick Jr.

The arrest report reveals that a witness told police Robinson shot Gainer at “close range in the back of the head or neck.”

The report also states Robinson “posted several photographs and videos bragging about the murder.”

Elizabeth says rap videos referencing her son’s murder have made grieving especially difficult.

“We had to see my son’s body online,” said Elizabeth. “I heard my son’s last words from them. They uploaded his last words. They laughed. They mocked the way he was running away from the gunshots. They laughed at the way he fell at the murder scene and crawled across the grass.”

Robinson’s father, Abdul Robinson, was also arrested in 2020, charged with helping his son escape after the murder of McCormick Jr.

Police say Abdul Robinson ran a crime family centered around drugs for decades, known as “ATK,” or “Ace’s Top Killers.”

Gainer’s mother says Hakeem’s arrest brought a sense of relief.

“He’s been smiling and laughing for two years about murdering my son,” said Elizabeth.

JSO says there is one more Robinson family member on the run, Abdul Robinson Jr.

He’s 26 years old and wanted by U.S. Marshals and JSO.
