The message from DCPS said it will continue to share updates as the situation develops. Here is the full message shared with parents and guardians:

“Hello Loretto Elementary School families. This is Duval County Public Schools calling. First, we want to assure you that all students and staff are safe. Again, all students and staff are safe. However, we have evacuated all and staff to the neighboring church due to a gas leak at the school. Again, we have evacuated all students and staff from the school, to the church next door, First Baptist Church of Mandarin. Please do not come to the area at this time. The school is not yet prepared to safely release students to eligible parents and guardians. We will continue to update you as the situation develops. Again, please do not come to the church or the school campus at this time. We will continue to keep you updated and alert you when it will (be) possible to check students out of the school. Thank you and stand by for further updates.”
