Jacksonville FL — Wednesday, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of four teenagers in connection to the triple murder at an apartment complex on the Northside earlier this week. Police say four are all charged with second degree murder and conspiracy to commit robbery among other charges. JSO says the four suspects are 17-year-old Kyshawn Glover, 17-year-old Owen Laureano Cosme, 18-year-old Keon Lester, and 14-year-old Alana Sears.
Police say this incident started Monday evening when officers heard gunshots coming from the Calloway Cove apartment complex during a traffic stop. When officers responded to the gunfire, they saw a dark colored vehicle leaving the scene and driving erratically, so they tried to pull it over. Police say the driver of the vehicle was the 14-year old suspect and she led police on about a three mile high-speed chase through the streets near the complex. Eventually JSO was able to use a PIT maneuver to stop the vehicle and take all four of the suspects into custody. JSO says when all four were taken into custody, they started saying they didn’t shoot anyone. We’re told the vehicle that was used in the getaway was stolen out of Clay County.
After the stop, police went back to the apartment complex and found the three victims, who have been identified as two men and a woman. JSO says when they conducted a search of the apartment they found over 100 OxyContin pills, white powder and a lot of cash. Inside the suspect vehicle police say they found three guns and one of them was disassembled. Police believe that was the one that was used in the shooting.
“This is not a random act of violence. We’re still trying to figure out exactly what the root is beyond the robbery and the murder that occurred.” JSO Director for Investigations and Homeland Security Mike Bruno says.
Currently, it’s unknown what the relationship between the suspects and the victims is, but police do believe there is a connection between the two groups.
This is an active investigation and if you have any information on it you’re asked to call JSO at 904-630-0500 or you could call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
