Former UCF, UC standout Otis Anderson Jr. dies in Jacksonville shooting

Man killed, woman injured in shooting in home on Johnson Lake Court.

Jacksonville, Fl — UPDATE 1:19 P.M: University Christian football coach David Penland tells WOKV that running back Otis Anderson Jr. was killed in the shooting. Penland said of Anderson “He was just a kid that always had a smile on his face and was very loved...He was a tremendous human being and he will be greatly missed.”

Original story: A shooting involving family members in north Jacksonville has left one person dead. Jacksonville police describe it as a domestic incident on Johnson Lake Court, near Dunn Avenue, where a man shot another man and a woman around 9:30 pm Monday.

When officers arrived they found the two victims with gunshot wounds. Both were transported to a hospital for treatment. The man died. The woman’s condition is not clear at this time.

JSO says officers detained a man without incident, and that all three people involved are related. Detectives were questioning the man officers’ detained.

The investigation is ongoing. This is the 334th shooting in Jacksonville this year, and at least 87 people have died, according records by Action News Jax.
