Jacksonville, Fl — A toddler and a woman in her 60s died in a late Sunday night apartment fire in Jacksonville’s Spring Park area.
Jacksonville Fire Rescue crews were called around 10:00 pm to Stonemont Street, off Emerson and I-95. Flames were visible when crews arrived and they worked to put the fire out and reach the family inside.
Three people were eventually recovered from one apartment. A man in his late 20s was hospitalized in critical condition.
“Our hearts go out to the families involved. There’s serious injuries and fire’s serious.”, said JFRD’s Eric Proswimmer.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says it’s unknown if foul play was involved. JFRD says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
