Patel was in Adelaide on Monday when he came across a man and woman fighting in the street and in a convenience store, BBC News reported.
The man had been stabbed in the chest.
Patel’s representatives confirmed that their client was in the city with his friends and “witnessed a violent altercation that was already in progress.” BBC News reported.
“Dev acted on his natural instinct to try and de-escalate the situation and break up the fight. The group was thankfully successful in doing so and they remained on site to ensure that the police and eventually the ambulance arrived,” the representatives told BBC News.
The man who was stabbed is expected to survive. The woman who is accused of stabbing the man was arrested at the scene. The man and woman knew each other and the stabbing was not random, police said, according to CNN.
Patel lives in Adelaide with his girlfriend, Australia’s 7 News reported.
