Beginning Monday, the fee for a U.S. passport book will increase by $20 for all customers, according to the U.S. State Department.

In a tweet, the State Department said, “The increased fee is necessary to ensure we continue to produce one of the most secure travel and identity documents in the world.”

Currently, the fees for a first-time passport application for people ages 16 and older are $110 for a book, plus an additional $35 acceptance fee, the State Department wrote on its website. Renewals cost $110 for the application fee, the State Department said. Renewal applications must be sent by mail, although most applicants ages 16 and 17 must apply in person.

All applicants under the age of 16 must apply in person, according to the website. There is an $80 application fee and a $35 acceptance fee.

Applicants can determine how much a passport will cost with the State Department’s fee calculator. A chart of passport fees can be found here.

But starting Monday, tack on an additional $20.

Because of COVID-19, U.S. citizens cannot simply travel abroad. A list of places where U.S travelers are welcome can be found here, according to CNN.
